Overview of Supports

We coordinate and fund supports that help children and adults live, learn, work, volunteer and thrive in the community. Our commitment can span a person’s entire life as we help each one achieve what matters the most to them.

SERVICE & SUPPORT ADMINISTRATION - Service and Support Administrators (SSA) link people to what they need and want in their lives. Private providers deliver the supports and SSAs monitor them to make sure people are satisfied.

EARLY INTERVENTION - This statewide system provides coordinated supports in the home to parents of infants and toddlers, ages 0-3, with developmental delays and disabilities.

SCHOOL-AGE - The County Board supports students with disabilities in a variety of ways. This includes Skill-Building for Transition, an IEP service, partnership grants to public schools, and access to resources.

COMMUNITY SUPPORTS - This family-focused service helps youth ages 3 to 18 acquire skills they need for their emotional wellbeing.

TRANSITION NAVIGATION - This support helps young people, beginning at age 14, prepare for life after school by helping them develop their skills and find jobs.

ADULT SERVICES - Supports for adults begin at age 18, or upon graduation, and include employment, vocational training, adult day supports, and transportation through certified providers.

RESIDENTIAL – We work with residential providers to develop housing options and can include privately-owned homes, apartments and ICFs (Intermediate Care Facilities for people with Intellectual Disabilities). ICFs provide 24-hour care and are funded through Medicaid. At least four people live in an ICF. Waivers are funded through Medicaid and pay for services that people receive while living on their own, with family or other people in the community, instead of living in an ICF.

TRANSPORTATION – We coordinate transportation services via taxis, bus lines, family, friends, and private providers to ensure that people have access to the places they need and want to go.

24 HOUR ON-CALL – 740-310-2255 - The Board operates an on-call service for the reporting of emergencies or suspected abuse, neglect or health/safety issues involving people with developmental disabilities 24/7/365.This number connects the caller to a real person who will take the information and provide the necessary action and follow-up.
